Why?
They are poor quality at a high price.
Often being grown solely for one day. Poorly kept and a week old before they even reach me. I don’t want to encourage that treatment of flowers for one day. After Valentines those left won’t even be wanted,and they die a sad death without experiencing love.
It brings into question how those who cut and dethorn roses are being treated. There is no doubt an argument in saying that those humans will need a job, and throughout the year I do consider this, but I doubt they get paid any more or treated any better, despite the growers and companies who are in charge making a lot more money.
It’s about not adding to the terrible conditions whilst taking into account this may be how some feed their families. For a day of love,I’m not going to give the rich more.
There are so many beautiful flowers that I can offer instead. other roses, and spray roses sourced from responsible places. That will be higher priced than usual but treated better. Spreading more love.
I know the Red Rose is considered the symbol of love and there is no denying that, You could get them at most other times of the year when they are better quality, and will give much more to your love. And you could always explain why they haven’t got red roses or hopefully your alternative flowers will speak for themselves.

Tulips are a declaration of love.
Ranunculus means you are full of charm.
Lisianthus are gratitude and appreciation
Clematis are for beauty and meeting of minds.

Of course, you are entitled to want to buy red roses. I’m telling you what I’ll be doing at Floriography because that’s how I feel. I am sorry if this doesn’t meet your desire, but sometimes we have to stand up for what we believe. And I’ve chosen to do this very small thing.
There are many other florists that will be stocking Red Roses,and although I’d be sad not to create a beautiful love bunch for you. I would respect and understand your decision if you chose to buy elsewhere.
